The CEO of PKN ORLEN, Williams’ and Robert Kubica’s sponsor, Daniel Obajtek says all options are “on the table” when it comes to their and Kubica’s future in Formula 1.
Polish oil company PKN ORLEN came in as Williams’ sponsor in 2019 and was said to be providing the team with 10 million EUR a year. The condition of this partnership is that Robert Kubica has to be the team’s driver. It has been reported that ORLEN’s current deal with Williams is only for 2019 with an option for 2020.
Kubica’s return to Formula 1 has not been as successful as everyone wanted. Since the beginning of the season the Pole has struggled in an uncompetitive FW42 and finished most of the races at the back of the grid. When asked if the company was considering a move from Williams, PKN ORLEN CEO Daniel Obajtek said the company was open to all options.
“That is for Robert and Orlen [to decide],” said Obajtek.
“Everything is on the table and there are such possibilities.
“We often talk about this subject, and a lot depends on the direction Robert will take. After all, he has a good sense of the sport.”
