Williams made a decision to call Robert Kubica back into the pits a lap after his team-mate George Russell crashed into the barrier and retired from the race. The team later explained it was done to “conserve parts ahead of the intense flyaway races which end the season”.
PKN ORLEN’s press officer Joanna Zakrzewska posted a Tweet saying the company asked for an official clarification from the team.
“In connection with the withdrawal of Robert Kubica from Sunday’s Russian Grand Prix, we have officially asked the ROKiT Williams Racing team for clarification,” said Zakrzewska.
“Based on them, we will take actions related to the enforcement of contractual obligations.”
Robert Kubica has already announced he will be leaving Williams at the end of 2019 and ORLEN is expected to leave with him.
